The Dress
er – request your Show Pack now
Show pack and audition pieces are available now for Southwick Players’ July production of The Dresser by Ronald Harwood, to be performed at the Barn Theatre, Southwick from Wednesday 15 – Saturday 18 July 2026.
Director ‘H’ Reeves invites you to a show meeting, followed by the auditions, on Sunday 8 March, in the Deall Room at Southwick Community Centre at 2pm.
The Dresser is based on the author’s own experience as Dresser to Sir Donald Wolfitt and this heartwarming drama tells the story of an ageing actors personal assistant who struggles to keep his charge’s life together. The play captures the bitchiness, the sentiment and the anecdotage backstage as Norman struggles to prepare Sir for his 227th performance of King Lear.
Set in 1942, the action takes place in the Principal’s dressing room, in the wings, on stage, backstage and in the corridors of a provincial English theatre during an air raid.
There are 10 great character parts to choose from and rehearsals will be on a Monday and Wednesday from 7.30pm at Southwick Community Centre.
