New season 2027 shows

At this year’s sparkling and shimmering SPOSCARs night the new season of Southwick Players’ shows was announced by Robb Tremayne.  The 2027 season is as follows:

Spring

A Bunch of Amateurs

A comedy play about Jefferson Steele, a fading Hollywood action star seeking to boost his career by playing King Lear in Stratford, England.  He arrives in a sleepy Suffolk village, in error, finding local “amateurs” rather than experienced Shakespearean actors, leading to comedic cultural clashes and personal rediscovery.

Directed by Ron Common

Assistant Director: Ryan Etherington

Summer

Till The Stars Come Down

Beth Steel’s play is a witty and tragic drama set at a chaotic wedding in a former mining town east of the Midlands.  The main characters are three sisters who draw the audience into an exploration of family loyalties, deep-seated racism, and the impacts of industrial decline in a de-industrialized, modern-day community.

Directed by Sarah Papouis

Assistant Director: TBC

Autumn (BHAC Entry)

Psychic Connections

A play by local writer Philip Ayckbourn where 1880s hauntings infiltrate a modern-day Surrey village.  A psychic tries to sort out the building and free the spirits as intrigue and family strife from the past plays out in front of us.

Directed by Suse Crosby

Assistant Director: TBC

Winter

A Christmas Carol

Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold-hearted miser who despises Christmas, lets us into his world. On Christmas Eve, he is visited by the ghost of his partner, Jacob Marley, and three spirits — Past, Present, and Yet to Come — who show him the error of his ways, leading to his transformation into a generous, joyful man.
