Murder Mystery Dinner Charity Event for Southwick Community Centre
The idea of a fund-raising murder mystery evening came about as a result of several online murder mystery evenings run by Southwick Players during the Covid restrictions. Southwick Community Centre suggested such an evening at the Centre could be a great help to the cost of installing new seating for the Barn Theatre. Sally Diver and Ron Common, both long-serving members of The Players, and great mates, offered to stage ‘Death By Chocolate’, in 2024.

Cheyne of Events Directors Ron and Sally
Unfortunately, Ron was taken ill during the rehearsal period and never got to see the only performance of the show, but his remarkable recovery was certainly aided by learning that the evening had been a great success and that over £1500 had been raised.
Jayne Routley, the Community Centre Manager, was keen to repeat the experience and, knowing Ron is a soft touch, coerced him into staging another this year. So, with Sally again firmly on board, they have written and are co-directing ‘Cheyne of Events’ which will hit the Barn Theatre stage on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th October.
Tickets for this evening of mystery and fun, set in 1967 (the Swinging Sixties) are £45 and this includes a meal and dancing to (according to Ron) the greatest ever decade of popular music.
Casting is complete and rehearsals are in full swing, book your tickets for an entertaining evening.
